Hi, I'm Manya Bharal

About Me - Manya Bharal
Hi, I’m Manya Bharal. I’m a student deeply interested in medicine and the human dimensions of healthcare, particularly how uncertainty, communication, and empathy shape patient experiences. My exposure to clinical environments has shown me that medicine extends far beyond diagnoses and procedures—it is equally defined by how patients and families are supported during vulnerable moments.
Through volunteering at Novant Health, interning at KidzCare Pediatrics and UNC Health Blue Ridge, initiating outreach the Breast Cancer Hub, and attaining leadership at the non-profit Remediate—just to name a few—I’ve observed the importance of clear communication and reassurance in clinical settings.
Academically, my curiosity has also been shaped by research-driven coursework, including an extensive research internship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Public Health, Research in Humanities Programs at my school and an independent study. Beyond medicine, my involvement in writing and community service initiatives has strengthened my ability to reflect, communicate, and advocate thoughtfully.
These experiences have reinforced my commitment to pursuing medicine as both a science and a responsibility—one that prioritizes seeing patients as individuals, not just cases, and ensuring they feel heard through moments of illness and uncertainty alike.
With strong research, project management, and communication skills, I am focused on leveraging technology to create tangible solutions that empower individuals and improve lives.
Join me in creating a more accessible future for the visually impaired.

Jainism’s Transformation and Tenacity During the British Raj
This research examines how British colonial rule misclassified and marginalized Jainism, threatening its identity, and highlights the Jain community's resilience in reviving traditions and asserting its distinctiveness despite institutional suppression.
